My New Favorite Bible Study Method

I’m not even sure how I came across this Bible study method, but I found it online at some point–probably through Facebook or something. I really like it, though! It has become my favorite Bible study method. It reaches into my creative side, but at the same time I learn a lot through it. You can be as creative as you want to be or not at all if you prefer. It is called The James Method verse mapping journal. In a nutshell, you record a verse you want to study. Then, you use different Bible study tools to dissect the verse and look up the important words, background information, and cross references. Their journal gives you a place to record all of your observations as you study. It also guides you to record your reflections and applications to your life. It has been a valuable tool in my own Bible study.

You know how sometimes we read scripture, and although it resonates, it feels like there’s more lurking beneath the surface? That’s where this journal steps in. Instead of just reading, it’s about diving deep, breaking down verses, and discovering connections, truths, and consistencies in the Bible that can sometimes elude us. It’s like having a roadmap to the treasures hidden within scriptures.

The part that excites me the most? It’s more than just a study tool. It prompts you to reflect on what God reveals about Himself and about us. It’s like having a dialogue with the Scripture itself.

Verse Mapping Plans

You can find several themed verse mapping plans on their website to help give you a jumpstart, but I’m also including a free one here that I put together on finding rest in the Lord. The journal is a very well made hardback book and comes in regular or spiral binding. I have the spiral bound one because I like it to lay flat when it’s opened. They also have a Scripture memory journal and several accessory items. Just enter your email below, and I’ll send you your free verse mapping plan on Resting in the Lord, and be sure to check out the journals at their website here.
